"Stranger Things" star Noah Schnapp has come under fire on social media after a clip that appears to show him saying the N-word while singing along to Lil Dicky's "Freaky Friday (feat. Chris Brown)" surfaced online. The 15-year-old actor has addressed the clip in an Instagram story post, apologizing and saying that he did not say the N-word.
The clip currently circulating under the #noahschnappisoverparty hashtag on Twitter appears to show Schnapp singing along to a portion of "Freaky Friday" in which Chris Brown repeatedly sings the N-word. Page Six reported that the clip was originally posted by one of Schnapp's friends on Instagram, but Insider was unable to locate the original post.

Schnapp said in a statement posted to Instagram that the clip was from the previous summer, saying that he had not said the N-word and instead replaced it with the word "neighbor."
"I would never truly say the n word and i'm not the type of person. i genuinely have never used that word in my life," Schnapp wrote. "Using the word 'neighbor' in that song was just something that my camp friends and i did."
"I hope you all understand i could never even think about doing that," Schnapp wrote. "My friends also would never post a video, or support me, if i was saying that slur without hesitation.
"I apologize for using a replacment word," he continued. "It is not my place to use one and i should of kept my mouth shut. i understand why it is found offensive and i am so sorry."
Variety reported that the actor's Twitter account was recently hacked in mid-August, with those who had gained access to his account making tweets that included sexual comments and the N-word.
Representatives listed for Schnapp did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
