  • Princess Sophie fainted while saying her vows to the prince, according to the German outlet Bild.

There was a hiccup at a royal wedding on Saturday.

Prince Ludwig of Bavaria married Sophie-Alexandra Evekink — now known as Princess Sophie — in front of approximately 700 guests at the Theatine Church of St. Cajetan in Munich, Germany, as the House of Bavaria shared on Instagram.

The prince, 40, proposed to Sophie, 34, who is pursuing her PhD at Oxford, in the summer of 2022, according to Town & Country.

According to the German outlet Bild, the couple's ceremony briefly came to a halt when Sophie fainted.

A wedding guest told Bild that the bride fell backward, and the groom caught her.

"The groomsmen rushed over," the guest told the outlet. "We are glad that she felt well again straight away."

The outlet also reported that Sophie felt better immediately after having a sip of Coke, so the incident was short-lived.

Indeed, the new royal grinned and waved at crowds with her new husband after the wedding.

Sophie wore a Reem Acra gown for the wedding, which she paired with a veil made by a Ukrainian designer, according to the House of Bavaria's Instagram.

After the ceremony, the couple celebrated their marriage at Nymphenburg Palace at a reception hosted by Franz, Duke of Bavaria, who is Prince Ludwig's cousin, according to People.

The Bavarian royal family exists in only a ceremonial capacity today, as the monarchy was dissolved after World War II. Prince Ludwig is third in line as head of his family, falling behind Franz's brother, Duke Max of Bavaria, and Ludwig's father, Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, People reported.
