There were layers to Rachel Zegler's latest red-carpet look.

On Tuesday, the "Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" actor attended the Time100 Next event in New York City, where she was honored as one of this year's featured artists.

While there, she posed in an off-white, semi-sheer dress designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior. The sleeveless gown had a plunging neckline, delicate sheer panels, thick white stripes from top to bottom, and a floor-length skirt that flowed with her movement.

In an email sent to Insider, Zegler's stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley described the dress as a "perfect representation" of a "multi-faceted woman."

"I am so inspired and impressed by Rachel. She is all the good things," Tooley said. "Kind, compassionate, thoughtful, hard-working, intelligent. She is strong — I am always amazed by all she manages to do — but also so loving. Time100 is a serious achievement and it seemed the look should reflect all these beautiful facets of her personality."

Tooley said the sheer panels, in particular, "reflect the inner self," and they allowed "Rachel's beauty to shine through."

Tooley noted that she and Zegler — who will star in the upcoming "Snow White" film adaptation — had their eyes on this specific gown "for a long time."

"We're always sharing looks we love on the runway, and this gown was no exception," she said. "When we had it in the studio for her to put on, we just knew it was super special."

The rest of Zegler's ensemble included strappy Jimmy Choo sandals, a sleek wavy hairstyle done by David von Cannon, a smokey makeup look created by Kale Teter, and jewels by Chopard.

"Keeping the look cool and youthful ensured that it's timeless and edgy in addition to glamorous," Tooley said. "I wanted to use jewelry in an unexpected way that would point to Rachel's forward thinking and innovation. Layering Chopard rings and using a bracelet as an armband really helped achieve this idea."

That glamour Tooley mentioned is something the stylist believes can't be achieved by a garment alone.

It's "something that comes from within," she said.

"Glamour arrives from the presentation of self — the way you carry yourself and interact with others," Tooley told Insider. "For those reasons, this look was so glamorous. Rachel embodies all these components and carries herself so beautifully on the carpet."
