After vanishing from the internet last February — the month of her last TikTok and Instagram posts — controversial former YouTube star Gabbie Hanna has reemerged as a fitness instructor.

Last month, the Lawrence County YMCA, located in Hannah's hometown of New Castle, Pennsylvania, announced her as their "newest instructor." Creators and fans are now circulating a new promotional video for a barre class she taught last week.

In the quippily edited clip, which was first shared on the local YMCA's Instagram page, Hanna is seen dancing as she introduces herself as "your new instructor at the Lawrence County YMCA." Hanna also tells viewers the way to meet their fitness goals is through consistency and fun.

In Hanna's introductory post, the gym noted the former influencer brings "a burst of energy and passion to the studio" and would offer "a dynamic range of classes," including Zumba, "Ballet Body," and "Stretch and Breathe."

When reached, the CEO of the Lawrence County YMCA told Business Insider they are "delighted" to welcome the influencer into their network.

"We work side by side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone — regardless of age, income or background has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive," McKee said in a statement. "We are delighted to have Gabbie as a member of our team, bringing her passion for wellness to help others achieve their best selves."

News of Hanna's latest career venture has gone viral on TikTok this week, with creators reacting to these clips. Several commended the choice and urged compassion for what they said appeared to be a healthy pivot for the polarizing star.

"GABS you look great, so healthy!" one commenter wrote on the YMCA's Instagram post. "Hope your classes fill up!!"

Hanna initially rose to fame on Vine but became a popular storytime creator on YouTube and a tangential member of the once-prominent "Vlog Squad." She released a book of poetry called "Adultolescence" in 2017 and dropped her debut album, "Trauma Queen," in 2022.

Over the years, however, Hanna's career was rocked by controversy and feuds with fellow creators, including Trisha Paytas and Jessi 'Smiles' Vazquez. In August 2022, she posted roughly 100 TikToks over the course of several hours in what she described as a manic episode, which resulted in police visiting her home for a welfare check, TMZ reported at the time.

She's since privated those videos and has staved off posting to social media.

Hanna did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.
