  • It's the first time in history that all Disney parks are closed at the same time.
  • But that doesn't mean there isn't still plenty happening behind the scenes.
  • The American flag at Town Square at Magic Kingdom Park continues to be raised daily, in tribute to veterans and active-duty military service members.
  • Animals are being born at Animal Kingdom, and cast members have joined donation efforts.

While you can re-create some of Disney's most famous snacks at home, or even go on your favorite rides virtually, March 16, 2020, was the first time in history that all six Disney theme park resorts were closed at the same time.

But just because the doors are closed doesn't mean that the magic stops.

Plenty has been going on behind the scenes, from the continued daily flag-raising ceremony to the birth of new animals at Animal Kingdom.

Keep scrolling to get a peek behind the curtain.

Every day, the remaining security team continues to raise the American flag in the Town Square at Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park

They're raising the flag as a tribute to veterans and active-duty military service members.

On April 7, 2020, the Cinderella Castle was lit up in blue in honor of World Health Day, as a tribute to medical personnel

At the Shanghai Disney Resort, the Enchanted Storybook Castle was lit up with the words "thank you" in various languages, while in Disneyland Paris a floral arrangement spelled out "merci."

Custodial cast members are expressing their thanks to 'health heroes' around the world all over Disneyland in California

They said, thank you, gracias, and mahalo with flower petals.

THANK YOU to all the health heroes around the world who continue to fight tirelessly and selflessly. #ThanksHealthHeroes #DisneyMagicMoments #worldhealthday

A light in the window of Walt Disney's apartment, which overlooks Town Square at Disneyland, continues to glow, as it has for decades

According to FindingMickey, the light represents the spirit of Walt Disney. When the light is on, it signifies that his spirit is present in the park.

Animals are still being born

Baby zebra, Asha, joined the herd at Disney World's Animal Kingdom on March 21, 2020.

Cast members are still spreading joy, and lending help to donation efforts

Disney World cast members donated Easter lilies to 200 local seniors receiving a Meals on Wheels delivery.

And on March 17, Disney cast members joined the company's distribution services team to donate food to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.

Flowers are still blooming around the park, heralding spring

Walt Disney World Resort alone has 4,200 acres of landscapes and gardens to maintain and employs more than 600 gardeners, arborists, irrigation specialists, and pest management experts to do so.

A group of cast members at Magic Kingdom continues to take care of the park (while maintaining social distance, of course).

Generally though, it's pretty quiet.

I hade to make a trip today, and it was absolutely surreal and a little sad. A little over 6 weeks ago this was full of the hustle and bustle of Guest coming and going, Cast Members hurriedly making their way backstage to start their magic making shifts and now... it’s so quiet. There are just the birds singing, the sound of a car or two making their way down Harbor and the So Cal breeze. No families laughing with excitement in their voices, no music, no Cast Members wishing each other a, “Have a good shift!” as they pass one another and no Monorail rushing overhead. It might be hard for some people to understand what it’s like to be a Cast Member, it’s not just a job to us. We BELIEVE in the magic and we love those magical moments we get to be a part of. Our Guest are EVERYTHING to us, we miss so many of them that we’ve gotten to know personally and all those that we get to meet in a quick passing or encounter. They don’t realize how much magic and how many memories that they make for us. It’s also hard missing all the wonderful things that springtime brings to the resort, the thousands of people celebrating a spring break or well deserved vacation from reality, the beautiful colors of all the flowers blooming around the resort and of course all those little ducklings we get to watch grow daily. I cannot wait to get back to DLR as a Cast Member and as a Guest. For now, my wish for all is to stay safe and healthy and before too much longer we’ll all be back together at The Happiest Place on Earth! See ya real soon! * * #disney #disneyland #disneylandresort #disneycastlife #castmemberlife #cmlife
