Single parents, divorcees get a second shot at love, online

In the current age of modern love, Cupid strikes more than once — at least that’s what the results of a survey conducted by the online dating app QuackQuack reveal.

Dating app QuackQuack surveyed 14,000 men and women from tier 1 and 2 cities, aged between 20-35 years, asking them if they believed in second chances in love.

As per the survey results, 12% of people joined a dating app and got in an exclusive relationship after a failed offline relationship. These people considered dating apps a ‘blessing’ because of the number of choices and the chance to determine compatibility based on shared interests.

According to QuackQuack's founder and CEO, Ravi Mittal, "We currently have more than 23 million users, and around 12% of these people are divorcees and single parents, all taking a second shot at love."

Failed relationships aren’t the end of love

It can be hard to get over a breakup or a failed relationship but it no longer signifies the end of love for today’s millennials, including single parents and divorcees.

As per the survey, 23% of single parents found a second shot at love through online dating. In fact, 13% of them prefer online over offline since it gives them a chance to mention their parental status before meeting anyone in person and avoid wasting time with people who are not interested in dating a person with a child.

Additionally, 18% of divorced men over 33 years, gave dating apps a try to find love for a second time and 8% of these divorced men found their current partner through online dating.

QuackQuack also shared that 13% of the people on the platform have even given their exes a second chance on the app. However, the survey also revealed that 34% of the female participants would never give their ex another chance — but 26% of these women think their exes deserve a second chance, just not from them.

Singlehood is tiring — but more so for women

Though online dating can sometimes spoil you for choice, it’s not always easy finding true love — especially the second time around, when you carry the baggage of a last relationship.

The survey revealed that for many divorced men, it’s more effortless to date another fellow divorcee than a person who’s never been married. This is where online dating becomes the preferred choice.

“Seeking out another person who has been through the same experience is less of a hassle on a dating app since people tend to mention their marital status online,” states the survey.

As many as 22% of women above 30 from tier 1 cities also mentioned being tired of their singlehood but found it tough to find love through the traditional mode of dating.

However, while 26% of men are firm believers in giving a second chance even if the first date went terribly, 22% of women think it’s not advisable since the outcome might be exactly the same as the first date.
