Louis Vuitton is set to release a light-sensitive face shield on October 30 in select Louis Vuitton retailers worldwide, according to the brand.
While, the New York Post reported that the face shield were listed for £750 ($961), a representative for Louis Vuitton denied this pricing and told Business Insider that no price has been announced yet.
Per a press release, the shield will feature the brand's signature monogrammed pattern and have gold studs. It will also be photochromatic, allowing for the shield to transition from clear to dark when it comes into contact with direct sunlight. The shield can also turn into a hat when the visor is flipped up.

Earlier in the year, major luxury brands shied away from releasing high-end protective gear and instead pivoted to producing PPE and other necessary goods for the essential workers fighting the pandemic.
In early April, Louis Vuitton repurposed its French factories to make non-surgical masks. Its parent company,
LVMH also pledged 40 million face masks to France, as health care professionals worldwide dealt with a shortage of medical supplies. Louis Vuitton donated 21,000 N95 masks to New York City as it became the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States this spring.
