<p class="ingestion featured-caption">King Charles and Queen Camilla outside Llwynywermod Estate in 2009.Chris Jackson/Getty Images</p><ul class="summary-list"><li>King Charles is giving up the lease on his Welsh estate because he's too busy to use it.</li><li>Since becoming king, he'd been renting the property, which is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.</li></ul><p>It took King Charles III 40 years to find the perfect home in Wales — but <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/king-charles-returns-keys-welsh-cottage-no-time-visit-report-2023-6">now he's moving out</a>.</p><p>He's handing back the keys of Llwynywermod Estate in Carmarthenshire because he can no longer use it like he has in the past, sources <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2023/06/03/king-charles-gives-up-wales-home-downsize-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">told The Telegraph.</a></p><p><a href="https://www.insider.com/king-charles-homes-palaces-royal-family-property-2023-5" rel>The Duchy of Cornwall</a>, a vast collection of properties owned by the heir to the throne, bought Llwynywermod in 2007 for £1.2 million, or about $1.5 million, so Charles had somewhere to stay during his regular visits to Wales. </p><p>As Prince of Wales, Charles oversaw the Duchy, but it was passed down to Prince William upon the Queen's death in 2022. Since then, Charles has personally paid rent on the property, according to the Telegraph, and he is now hoping to cut back on the costs of his residences.
