Julia Fox channeled an unforgettable style moment from "The Hunger Games" by wearing a trench coat that appeared to catch fire in an Instagram post shared on Sunday.
The "Uncut Gems" star, 32, modeled the pyrotechnic outfit in an Instagram video that has since gotten over 47,000 likes as of Monday. Her look consisted of a black leather bodysuit, heeled boots, and a coat featuring a lengthy train that appeared to be slowly engulfed with flames. Later in the video, Fox's sleeves also seemed to catch fire.
She also wrote that her 1-year-old son was conceived on the rooftop where she was modeling the outfit.
Some users commenting on the post pointed to parallels between Fox's flame-heavy look and outfits worn by Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, played by Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, in "The Hunger Games."
Fox credited London-based designer Sam Macer with creating the daring coat in the Instagram caption.
In an email to Insider, Macer, who said his pyrotechnic designs were featured on the semi-final of "Germany's Next Topmodel," said he wasn't surprised people were making references to the dystopian movie. "'The Hunger Games' comparisons are very expected but there's no special effects here," he said.
"The way the pieces work are they are either welded metal structures or leather garments that are covered in stretched steel wool that provides the burning," Macer, 21, added. The steel wool is stretched to "a specific thickness" that allows it to be in close proximity to the body, he said.
"Between each burning, the pieces need to be rewrapped as it completely disintegrates each time," he said.
Macer shared an identical video to Fox on his Instagram, where he wrote that it's called the Fire Train Coat. An Instagram post shared by the designer in March showed that Spanish pop star Rosalía also wore the fire-themed piece in November 2021.
It's far from the first time that Fox, who garnered attention for her past relationship with Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, has made some unique outfit choices.
In May, she was seen at a Los Angeles grocery store wearing underwear, which she said should be "socially acceptable."
And on Thursday, while hanging out with "Selling Sunset" star Christine Quinn in New York City, the actress was seen wearing a black bikini top with ultra low-rise pants.
Representatives for Julia Fox did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
