  • The beauty mogul Jeffree Star posted a tongue-in-cheek response to a bizarre rumor that he's romantically involved with the rapper Kanye West.
  • Star posted a new picture of himself with rainbow-colored hair extensions and captioned it "I'm ready for Sunday Service," an apparent reference to West's well-known Christian gathering.
  • The rumor started on TikTok on Wednesday following reports that West and Kim Kardashian West were planning to divorce. A frequent internet troll claimed the divorce was caused by West cheating with Star.

Jeffree Star responded to the evidence-free trending rumor that he and Kanye West had a romantic entanglement in typical Star fashion - without confirming, without denying, and by promoting his own image. Star posted a new picture on Instagram and Twitter on Wednesday with the caption "I'm ready for Sunday Service," an apparent reference to the rapper's well-known Christian gathering.

Star, who has nearly 17 million subscribers on YouTube and is CEO of the makeup company Jeffree Star Cosmetics, also similarly avoided seriously answering questions about the rumor earlier in the day, when he texted the YouTube drama personality Keemstar and wrote "Hahaha" and "I'm having the best time in Wyoming, come visit sometime!"

But there's no evidence that Star and West have ever met, let alone dated. The rumor that West had cheated on his wife, Kim Kardashian West, with Star was started on TikTok by Ava Louise, an influencer best known for her song "Skinny Legend Anthem" and for a viral video in which she licked an airplane's toilet seat for what she called the "coronavirus challenge."

Louise mentioned a Page Six article that reported West and Kardashian West were planning to divorce and said it was "no surprise" because she had known "for months" that West was "hooking up with a very famous beauty guru."

"A lot of people in the scene have known for a while," Louise said in the TikTok, then liked comments about Star.

Louise told Insider there wasn't any "concrete evidence" for the theory but said she was friends with an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles who she claimed was provided evidence of the affair by Kardashian West months ago.

Other TikTok users picked up on Louise's video, and it quickly traveled to Twitter, where "Jeffree" trended throughout the day. Representatives for West and Star didn't respond to request for comment from Insider.
