Jeff Bezos has added a $68 million waterfront mansion on Florida's 'billionaire bunker' to his real-estate collection: report
- Jeff Bezos is now the owner of a $68 million mansion in Miami's Indian Creek Village, per Bloomberg.
- Celebrities like Ivanka Trump and Tom Brady have also bought property on the "billionaire bunker" island.
Billionaire Jeff Bezos has bought a waterfront mansion in Indian Creek, an artificial barrier island in Miami, per Bloomberg.
Bezos agreed to pay $68 million for the property, Bloomberg reported, citing an unnamed source. The source also told Bloomberg that Bezos is considering other purchases in the area. A representative for Bezos did not respond to Bloomberg's requests for comment.
Miami's Indian Creek Village is a separate municipality that has its own mayor and police force. In 2021, Zillow ranked Indian Creek as the most expensive city in the US.
Insider's Hannah Towey visited the private island last year and found it was heavily guarded and eerily quiet. Besides the mansions, she wrote, there was nothing much available on the island except for an ultra-exclusive golf club.
Bezos is currently the third-richest person in the world, and his new address will put him among an impressive list of big-name businesspeople and celebrities. The neighborhood has earned the nickname "billionaire bunker" due to the list of elite and ultra-wealthy residents who have bought property there, which includes billionaire investor Carl Icahn, now-divorced celebrity couple Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
Bezos' massive real estate portfolio spreads across the US, spanning from his home state of Washington to New York City. He's also the owner of the $500 million yacht called Koru.
Representatives for Bezos, Indian Creek Village, and Indian Creek Property Owners Association did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
