On Friday, 23-year-old Jake Paul posted the music video for his new single "Fresh Outta London" to his channel seen by 20 million subscribers. The video, which Paul teased on social media in the weeks leading up to its release, features his Calabasas mansion and scenes from a widely-criticized gathering hosted at the residence on July 11.
Photos and videos of the event quickly surfaced on partygoers' Instagram stories, and concerned neighbors provided footage of the day-long gathering to local news.
In the photos, mask-less guests — including several high-profile influencers such as Tana Mongeau – gathered inside and outside the home, and several appeared to be swinging from an excavator parked in the yard.
Footage of the gathering even made its way to the office of Calabasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub who told Fox 11 that she was "outraged" by the lack of safety precautions taken amid a pandemic.
"They're having this large party, no social distancing, no masks, it's just a big, huge disregard for everything that everybody is trying to do to get things back to functioning," she said.
In response, Weintraub pledged to work with law enforcement to curb large, private gatherings in the city.
"The City of Calabasas will be enforcing a zero-tolerance [policy] for large gatherings that defy local public health orders. I am committed to keeping our community safe and we are working with the Lost Hills Sheriff Station to ensure enforcement," she said in an email Insider.
In the music video, Paul can be seen standing on a platform suspended from a crane, singing to a crowd of partygoers outside the mansion.
The video received over 350,000 views within an hour of its posting.
Paul released the video on the same day that YouTuber Olajide "KSI" Olatunji dropped his new single "Lighter" — and the two have stoked a rivalry online in the week leading up to the premieres.
"What are the chances that my music video this Friday will sound better and get more views than Jake Paul's?" Olatunji tweeted on Wednesday.
Paul's recent YouTube video also includes details from the controversial gathering
On Thursday, Paul posted a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot, titled "Bryce Hall is an idiot" to his YouTube channel. The video also featured scenes of the party, including guests swinging from the crane. Influencer Bryce Hall can be seen telling the videographer that he was "the first one to do it." The clip included a disclaimer that "activities, stunt, challenges, or pranks" performed in the recording should not be attempted by any viewers, as the filmed activities were performed by "trained professionals."
In the video, Paul called the stunt "a liability."
Representatives for Jake Paul did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
