I lost my passport, missed my flight home, and spent six hours at Bangkok's airport — here's how I killed time

I lost my passport in Bangkok and ended up missing my flight back home.
I spent $100 for a new plane ticket, securing a seat on a same-day flight.

I travel to Bangkok once a year and have always had smooth journeys. But on my most recent visit, I lost my passport and missed my flight back home.

I had several hours to kill before the check-in gates would open. As I wasn't in a transit area, there wasn't a lounge where I could wait for my flight.

Right outside the food court was an outdoor park and garden. I spent an hour in the park, watching the sunset fade over the buildings.

I then stumbled upon a massage parlor at the airport and decided to treat my aching feet to a short rub.

It was already around 7:30 p.m. when I checked in, but going through immigration and security was a breeze. This meant I had time to visit the duty-free shops.
