  • The Genesis GV60 is an all-electric compact luxury SUV that debuted in 2023.
  • I recently reviewed a 2024 Genesis GV60 in top-spec Performance trim.

The electric Genesis GV60 is one of the newest compact luxury SUVs to hit the market.

First launched in 2023, it goes head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y, Polestar 2, and Mercedes-Benz EQB.

I recently reviewed a 2024 Genesis GV60 in top-of-the-line Performance trim with an as-tested price of $71,320. I was impressed by the Korean EV's eye-catching design, plush cabin, strong performance, and advanced tech.

Here's a closer look at some of my favorite features that made it feel luxurious.

1. Cool styling

The Genesis EV oozes style and sophistication in an unconventional manner. Its rounded, masculine styling stands out from the crowd without seeming odd or out of place.

Its side profile is dominated by a sloping, coupe-like roofline that contributes to the GV60's style but compromises rear-seat headroom and cargo capacity.

2. Snazzy cabin design

Genesis went all out with the design of the GV60's cabin, with a delightful blend of materials and textures from aluminum trim pieces to the microfiber suede headliner and quilted Nappa Leather seats.

It exudes pure class.

3. Fast Charging

3. Fast Charging

The GV60 is built on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) with a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the passenger cabin.

According to Genesis, the GV60 can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes on a fast charger. With a 240V level-two charger, the Genesis can charge from 10% to 100% in about 7 hours.

The EPA rates the base Genesis GV60 Standard for up to 294 miles of range, while the Advanced trim is rated for 248 miles.

My test car was rated for 239 miles of range. However, I achieved closer to 250 miles of range during my time with the vehicle.

4. Boost Button

4. Boost Button

My top-spec GV60 Performance test car has two electric drive motors, one on each axle. Together, they produce a stout 429 horsepower.

The Performance trim also has a Boost Mode that can unleash 483 ponies in 10-second bursts by pushing a steering wheel-mounted button.

According to Motor Trend, the GV60 Performance sprints from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds with Boost Mode activated.

5. Ergo-Motion Seats

Besides looking great, the GV60's driver's seat features an Ergo-Motion function that uses self-adjusting inflatable air pockets to support the driver's posture and combat fatigue on long drives.

6. Smaht Pahk

The GV60 is equipped with Hyundai's remote smart-parking assist, or as they called in the Bostionian Super Bowl ad from a few years ago, "Smaht Pahk." The system can pull a vehicle into and out of a parking space with the driver outside the car simply by pushing buttons on the key fob.

7. Handsfree Liftgate

The GV60 is equipped with a hands-free tailgate. It is also found in other premium Hyundai/Kia products like the Palisade and EV9.

The GV60's liftgate triggers if you stand within 3 feet of the rear bumper for more than three seconds while possessing the key fob.

This is a departure from rival systems that require the driver to swing or kick their leg under the back bumper.

8. Crystal sphere rotary shifter

The most eye-catching feature in the interior is the GV60's rotary shifter.

When the vehicle is in operation, the driver puts the GV60 into gear by turning a rotary-style shifter on the center console. However, once the car is powered down, the shifter flips into the console, revealing an ornate crystal ball.

9. HUD

A head-up display (HUD) projects key information onto the windshield in front of the driver. The GV60's HUD is configurable and can show everything from the location of surrounding cars to the status of its adaptive cruise control.

10. Facial recognition

Hidden in the GV60's stylish sheet metal is its facial recognition system.

The GV60 is equipped with a facial recognition sensor on the b-pillar behind the driver's door, which allows the driver to gain keyless access through facial scans.

11. Intuitive infotainment system

The 12.3-inch touchscreen atop the front dash is home to the GV60's infotainment system, which looks great and is a breeze to navigate. The system is equipped with a host of interesting features, such as quiet mode, which mutes rear cabin speakers to allow passengers to relax in peace, and a built-in diagnostic system that allows owners to check the operating condition of the vehicle's various functions.

12. Visual settings menu

One of my favorite parts of the GV60's infotainment system is its visual settings menus. Instead of scrolling through a list, each feature is accessed through its location on a 3D rendering of the cabin.

13. 360-degree camera

13. 360-degree camera

The GV60 has cameras on the front grille, rear liftgate, and under each side mirror. This feature stitches together images from the cameras around the car to create a 360-degree view of its surroundings.

The software not only provides an overhead view, it can also generate an image looking at the vehicle.

14. Digital gauge cluster

The GV60 has a visually impressive 12.3-inch digital gauge display that can be configured to suit individual drivers' tastes. I particularly liked the integrated navigation map view and the information panel with media and local weather forecasts.

15. Seatback seat controls

The GV60's front passenger seat can be controlled using buttons located on the inner seatback. This allows the driver as well as rear seat occupants easy access to adjust the seat's position.

16. Blind spot view monitor

The GV60's digital gauge cluster is home to its blind spot view monitor. The system uses cameras under the GV60's side mirrors to give the driver a live shot of the vehicle's blind spots.

17 Vehicle-to-load charging

The GV60 is equipped with bi-directional charging capability, which means it can serve as a remote power source in a pinch.

Plug the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) adapter, which comes with the GV60, into the charging receptacle, and the GV60 can power small appliances up to 1.9 kW at 16 amps.

18. Bang & Olufsen Stereo

18. Bang & Olufsen Stereo

My GV60 Performance test car came with an optional 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. The B&O system sounded crisp and powerful with the help of its 1,400-watt, 14-channel amplifier.

19. Glass vision roof

19. Glass vision roof

The GV60's "Vision Roof" is standard across all trim levels. It has a power shade apparatus, but the glass roof itself doesn't open.

I love how much light the glass roof let into the cabin, although I was a little bummed it couldn't open.

20. Frunk

20. Frunk

Pop open the hood, and you'll find a small front trunk or drunk. The GV60's frunk is only 0.71 cubic feet, so it's not terribly spacious. However, the frunk is still a great place to store some emergency supplies or the GV60's charging cables.

21. Advanced safety features

21. Advanced safety features

The Genesis is equipped with a whole suite of advanced safety features.

Some of the GV60's safety tech includes forward collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, blind spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, parking collision avoidance assist, safe exit assist, and advanced rear occupant alert.
