• Insider combed Realtor.com listings to find homes that $200,000 can buy across the country.
• The typical US home listed for sale in February was priced at double that: $415,000.

For $190,000, you can purchase a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Leesburg, Florida, a city 50 miles northwest of Orlando that has a population of about 23,000.

A buyer with a strict budget of $200,000 has more housing options in Leesburg, where the average sales price is $294,800, than they would in Orlando ($294,800) or Miami ($590,000).

Because the typical Chicago home sells for $295,000, a Realtor.com search turns up several apartments and even single-family homes at the $200,000 price point.

In Willoughby and surrounding areas, there are many homes for sale below $200,000. Economists have predicted the Midwest will be a hot spot for homebuyers in 2023, in part because of the area's robust supply of relatively affordable homes.

The median sale price in Willoughby is $195,000, according to Realtor.com. It's one of the places in the US where home prices are falling, with January levels 15.8% less than the same time period in 2022.

There are very few homes for sale in Brooklyn for $200,000. Though it's petite, this cozy apartment is a steal compared to Brooklyn's median sales price of $612,500.

While West Palm Beach is known for being pretty ritzy, a favorite stomping ground of billionaires and financiers with a median sales price of $350,000, there are many condos for sale at the $200,000 price point.

Many of the homes on the market at the $200,000 price point, however, are farther from the beach. This condo is eight miles from the Atlantic Ocean, a distance that can take 30 minutes to drive if there's traffic.

Homebuyers' budgets tend to stretch farther in Indianapolis than in other major US cities. The median sales price is relatively reasonable $$300,000, so it's common to find single-family homes priced in the $200,000s or below.
