Beauty queens around the world are getting ready for the biggest night in pageants.

On November 18, around 90 hopeful contestants will compete in the 72nd annual Miss Universe competition in El Salvador, vying for the highest pageant honor there is.

This year, Noelia Voigt from Utah will represent the United States in the pageant after she took home the top crown at Miss USA in September.

Texan R'Bonney Gabriel won Miss Universe in 2022, marking the first time an American won the pageant in a decade — though her Miss USA win was marked by scandal.

1954: Miriam Stevenson
