The best way to get a celebrity's attention online during the coronavirus pandemic may just be through tweeting about Animal Crossing.
One Twitter user was surprised on Thursday to receive a direct message from Elijah Wood — the actor known for his role as Frodo in the Lord of the Rings films — all because she had posted about the prices of turnips on her Animal Crossing island.
"I tweeted my turnip prices and elijah wood just came to my island and hung out," Jessica Kovalick, 23, said in a tweet, adding that this was the "best day in quarantine yet."

Once Wood arrived to the Animal Crossing island, according to screenshots in the tweet, he complimented his surroundings. "Your island is beautiful," his player avatar said.
Screenshots from the game shared by another Twitter user showed that Wood shared Kovalick's love for director Rian Johnson (her Twitter username is a reference to the "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" director).
An inquiry to Woods' publicity firm was not immediately returned and Insider could not independently verify the screenshots posted to Twitter.

Brie Larson, Guy Fieri, Chrissy Teigen, and Lil Nas X have all admitted to being New Horizons connoisseurs, according to Refinery 29.
