Bugatti will only make 40 examples of the $6 million Divo.
This Divo "Lady Bug" is a one-off custom job that was commissioned by a single customer.
Designers used more than 1,600 diamond shapes to create the car's unique pattern.
When you're already shelling out millions for a new Bugatti, what's a few bucks more to have the carmaker spend an additional two years creating the perfect custom paint job that really sets your car apart from everything else?
This is the Bugatti Divo "Lady Bug" - a one-of-a-kind, custom job for a single customer, according to a press release. With a starting price tag of approximately $6 million for the Divo itself, it's not clear what the Lady Bug's final price came to be. But what is clear is that the car is stunning.
Around 1,600 diamond shapes make up the pattern. Each one was checked and realigned so that they fit perfectly.

The Divo wears a richly red coat of paint and a diamond-patterned design that took about two years to complete.

They also wanted the car in contrasting "Customer Special Red" and "Graphite" metallic paints.

Applying the diamond patterns to the car was a very difficult task.

Owing to the fact that the Divo has a lot of surface contours, the 2D-printed diamond pattern looked "distorted" once applied to the car.

"Due to the nature of the project, where a 2D graphic was applied to a 3D sculpture, and after numerous failed ideas and attempts to apply the diamonds, we were close to giving up and saying: 'We cannot meet the customer's request,'" Jörg Grumer, Bugatti's head of color and trim, said.

What the team wound up doing was using a transfer film and sticking the approximately 1,600 diamonds onto the body and making little readjustments as necessary.

After painting, each diamond was removed and the car was repainted to smooth out imperfections.
