A top realtor got fired after trash-talking tenants on social media, reports say
- An Australian realtor was fired after she reportedly mocked tenants on Facebook.
- Aimee Marsh had worked for Ray White Aspley in Brisbane, Daily Mail Australia reported.
A realtor billed as one of the best in her city was fired after she apparently said tenants were "envious of me" in a series of social media posts.
Aimee Marsh, who worked for Ray White Aspley in Brisbane, Australia appeared to lash out at renters in a series of Facebook posts and claimed she couldn't wait to sell the homes they were renting.
The Facebook posts have since been deleted, but screenshots were reported by both news.com.au and Daily Mail Australia.
"Jealousy is a curse & money controls people's emotions lol," Marsh posted on a community page, per the screenshots. "I can't wait to sell the houses they rent hehe."
In response to another user calling tenants "nobodies," Marsh also apparently claimed those attacking her were only earning 50,000 Australian dollars (about $32,000), and that her taxes were helping to fund people's social security payments.
Marsh's realtor profile on Ray White Aspley has been taken down and a company representative told the Daily Mail she was "terminated immediately" on Tuesday shortly after the comments came to light.
"We respect and value each and every one within our community, and we have a big community of people who rent," the Ray White representative said.
Last year the Courier Mail newspaper included Marsh in its list of the top 40 realtors in the greater Brisbane area, with her biggest sale being a property worth almost a million Australian dollars (about $640,000).
"I had no intention of real estate and it never crossed my mind until I learned I was good at it and good with people," Marsh told the publication. "Honestly real estate has made me thick-skinned, I've learned so much from it."
According to news.com.au, Marsh was once named agent of the month by Ray White Aspley after selling properties worth 3.7 million Australian dollars.
Data from SQM Research suggests rental prices in Brisbane have risen sharply in recent years, from an average of 470 Australian dollars a week in November 2020 to 690 Australian dollars.
Marsh and Ray White Aspley didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider, made outside normal working hours.
