A flight from California to Texas was delayed after two flight attendants got into a heated argument, causing one to burst into tears and both to storm off the plane, according to a passenger who said she witnessed the spat.

The American Airlines flight 4860, operated by SkyWest Airlines as American Eagle, was due to leave Los Angeles for Houston on Saturday afternoon but was delayed for more than an hour, per data from FlightAware.

A passenger on the flight said in a now-deleted TikTok video that the delay followed a spat between a male and a female flight attendant over whether a first-class passenger could switch seats with someone in coach so that she could sit next to her husband, according to The Hill.

The passenger was ESPN anchor Ashley Brewer, who said the male flight attendant approved the seat change, while the female flight attendant said it wasn't allowed under the airline's policy, per The Hill.

According to the outlet, Brewer said of the spat: "For some reason the flight attendants were not fine, and they kept bickering and going back and forth in the middle of the aisle about the rules, what was right and what was wrong.

"They just had some beef or something, so they kept going back and forth and he started yelling at her. He was really, like, out of line. He should not have done that."

The male flight attendant started to yell and the female flight attendant burst into tears and ran to the front of the plane, Brewer said, per The Hill. She alleged that both workers said they would not work with each other, with both eventually leaving the plane.

Passengers had to wait while the airline found replacement crew, according to The Hill.

SkyWest did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, but in a statement provided to Nexstar Media Group, which publishes The Hill, it said that it was aware of reports regarding a "flight attendant issue."

The statement said SkyWest had opened an investigation into the incident and held all employees "to the highest standards of professionalism."
