A professional Airbnb cleaner shares the top 4 supplies that make cleaning a breeze
- Diana Cruz became a professional Airbnb cleaner after quitting her desk job five years ago.
- Cruz and her husband have about 10 clients, each with two or three properties.
After five years spent cleaning Airbnbs for a living, Diana Cruz has found a few sure-fire products that make her life easier.
Cruz, 29, has a portfolio of about 10 clients, each of which has two or three Airbnbs that she and her husband are tasked with cleaning regularly. To help make sure their homes are as clean as possible before new guests check-in, there are four cleaning products that Cruz swears by.
From a microfiber mop to a cheap disinfectant spray, here are Cruz's go-to cleaning supplies.
Cruz raves about the spin mop from O-Cedar
O-Cedar is a company that sells cleaning supplies like sponges, gloves, and the mop that Cruz won't work without.
The brand's "EasyWring" mop comes with a microfiber head and a bucket that wrings the mop for you without using your hands. The mop goes for about $35 at Home Depot, and Cruz said it's the best she's used in her time as a cleaner.
"From all the mops that I've tried, that one always gives me really good results when cleaning the floors," Cruz said.
She swears by the pest spray from Healthier Home
Last month, Paris fell under siege by bedbugs, which have infested everything from the Metro to Charles-de-Gaulle Airport. Cruz uses Healthier Home's bedding and indoor pest spray to prevent the pests from infiltrating her client's homes, which sells for about $20.
"Whenever we schedule the deep cleans for the Airbnb homes, I make sure to spray that on the mattress," Cruz said. "I vacuum the mattress and then spray that. It doesn't have any harsh chemicals or anything like that, so that's been my to-go — especially for everything going on recently."
A cheap stovetop scraper always comes in handy
Cruz said she finds the cheap little scrapers on Amazon, where they typically sell for less than $10.
"You always need a good cooktop cleaner, because that's one of the first things people look at when they go to the kitchen," Cruz said. "Especially the glass cooktops, if you just wipe them down with a multisurface cleaner, the burn marks are still going to be there, so I always have this little non-scratch scraper on hand."
Disinfectant spray from OdoBan helps eliminate odors
Cruz recommended OdoBan's $3 disinfectant spray, which she said helps freshen up the Airbnb's smell, especially if people smoke.
"You're going to run into smoke smell sometimes, even though there are no-smoking signs or just really bad odors," Cruz said. "So it's something that you can spray when you're done that gets rid of any strong odors, and it's really good for fabric."
"I'm pretty sure a lot of cleaners can agree with me, especially for Airbnbs."
