A mom shared how she keeps her kids occupied on flights — but some people say it makes a mess.

Nichola Knox, a content creator, shared in an Instagram video that she uses painter's tape to keep her kids busy on the plane. The video, posted on November 18, has garnered some 124,000 likes at the time of writing.

In the video, Knox's children are shown playing with a green-colored tape and sticking it on the plane's trays and window. Knox also demonstrated how she uses the tape, including making a "snack holder" by taping a small plastic cup to the foldable tray.

"Save this for your next plane ride with kids!" Knox wrote in the post.

"Painters tape guys - I swear to you. It's great on the plane but also on vacation. Label the kid's cups, a bandaid for when your toddler 'really needs one,' taping over locks and drawers you don't want them getting into. The list goes on. It's forever the 'weird' thing I bring on trips," she continued.

Several people commented that they found Knox's tip helpful.

"This is incredible. Huge brain energy. It potentiates their creativity, is ecological, mess free, and useful too. Incredible mom right there," one person wrote.

Another person commented: "If I was sitting with you I would totally be participating in all the fun tape-based shenanigans! This is brilliant."

But several others weren't so sure, with some saying that the kids might end up leaving a mess.

"Please don't encourage people to do this. Not everyone will clean up after themselves leaving airline employees to peel tape off of all sorts of surfaces. It's also wasteful," one person wrote.

"Imagine cleaning up after these people. I would quit my job," another person commented.

Knox responded to the comment, writing: "I clean it all up. I was a flight attendant fr a long time so my seats are always left spotless."

It's not the first time someone's parenting on a flight has sparked a debate online. In December, people called out a dad for letting a flight attendant spoon-feed his son. In September, a woman divided opinions when she shared that a male passenger on her flight left his wife to deal with their kids alone.

Knox did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment, sent outside regular office hours.
