An influencer who disguised his TV as a painting by using an elaborate easel mount was applauded by viewers who were blown away by the illusion.

On May 18, interiors creator Drew Scott who goes by @lonefoxhome on TikTok shared a video to his 1.3 million followers which showed him rolling a large painting easel into view which he said he found at an estate sale. "I knew I wanted to mount my TV to this, because it was super sturdy, and just so beautiful," he said in the video voiceover, which received over 320,000 views.

The TikToker then took viewers through a step-by-step process of the project, which showed him attaching a TV mounting plate to a piece of scrap wood, which he then screwed directly into the easel. Once the TV was popped on he added a gold-colored frame "to make it look like an actual piece of artwork."

When it was complete, he maneuvered the easel into his living space and highlighted how it looked as the TV show "Friends" played, and how it gave the illusion of a piece of art when various paintings were shown on its screen.

Hiding or camouflaging TVs has become an increasingly common style choice, with one brand even selling a product designed especially to look like art on the wall. On TikTok, videos showing different hacks to achieve a similar result have received hundreds of thousands — or even millions — of views.

Over 1,000 people commented on Scott's video and wrote how impressed they were with the final look, and how convincing it looked when a still image of a painting was used as a backdrop.

Some also responded to a section of the video in which the TikToker showed how it looked without a frame, suggesting it looked better with one, although many agreed a more subtle option could improve the overall look.

"Love the frame idea along with easel. Perhaps a different, less gold leaf, frame would vibe better with your aesthetic," one viewer wrote in a top comment that received over 1,100 likes. The creator responded to multiple comments and appeared to be on board with the idea of experimenting with different frames.

Scott regularly posts shares home projects which include a stained glass window repair, a hidden projector screen, and a wood slat fireplace. He also has 1.6 million followers on YouTube where he shares longer videos of DIY designs and makeovers.
