  • Ashley Raso wore a sheer, lace dress to her wedding after-party.
  • She shared on TikTok that she wanted to wear the dress to send a message to her future daughter.

A bride opened up on TikTok about why she wanted to wear a see-through dress to her wedding.

Ashley Raso, who is based in Australia, documented her recent wedding on social media, amassing millions of views on TikTok videos about her entrance and her wedding dress reveal.

On May 9, she posted a behind-the-scenes video about the making of her custom after-party dress, which was designed by House of Harper.

The video documented the dress from its earliest sketches to its finished look, including clips of Raso's fittings.

When it was finished, Raso's dress was entirely sheer, and it was covered in sparkly, lace appliqué. It also featured off-the-shoulder sleeves that had pearl buttons on the wrists, as well as a cutout in the back. She paired it with a white bandeau and cheeky white underwear, emphasizing the gown's sheer material.

Across the video, Raso wrote: "POV: You wore a see-through wedding dress to teach your future daughter to be fearless," and she elaborated on the sentiment in her caption.

@ashley.raso @House of Harper thank you for trusting in my vision to bring this dress to life. I have had a passion for design and fashion all of my life and so when I went to Danny and Isabelle with a bold vision to make a see-through wedding dress, the ulitmate fashion statement, the were instantly thrilled and on board. We pushed ourselves think creatively and outside of the box, whilst still keeping the dress refined and classy. The end product exceeded all of my expectations. Danny and Isabelle, your creative minds are like nothing I’ve ever experienced. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My future daughter will thank you one day for allowing her Mum to be fearless and take risks that make her happy. #weddingdress #fashiontrends #justmarried #weddingtiktok #firstlook #wedding #bride #fashion ♬ Originalton - Sia Collection

"@House of Harper thank you for trusting in my vision to bring this dress to life," she wrote, going on to thank House of Harper designers Danny and Isabelle. "I have had a passion for design and fashion all of my life and so when I went to Danny and Isabelle with a bold vision to make a see-through wedding dress, the ultimate fashion statement, they were instantly thrilled and on board."

She added: "We pushed ourselves to think creatively and outside of the box, whilst still keeping the dress refined and classy. The end product exceeded all of my expectations."

Raso then reiterated that she wanted to wear a sheer dress to send a message to her future daughter.

"My future daughter will thank you one day for allowing her Mum to be fearless and take risks that make her happy," she said.

"We love you," House of Harper wrote in the comments section.

Other TikTokers also commented on the video in support of Raso's look. "I love the covered but uncovered at the same time look," one user wrote. "It's exactly what I want."

See-through wedding dresses have become popular in recent years, though they're still controversial.

For instance, "Say Yes to the Dress" star Randy Fenoli told Insider he "can't wrap his head around" transparent wedding gowns, saying: "I know If I had a daughter walking down the aisle, she would not be wearing a see-through dress."

Raso did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
