A bachelor party — including a groom in fancy dress as a pilot — delayed their flight 3 hours after harassing staff and passengers, reports say
- Seven passengers on a bachelor party trip to Bulgaria harassed crew and passengers, WalesOnline reported.
- Five of them, including the groom-to-be dressed in a pilot's costume, left when security came.
A group of passengers on their way to a bachelor party delayed their flight for three hours after causing chaos when told they would not be allowed to drink alcohol onboard, WalesOnline first reported.
The seven revelers — including the groom-to-be dressed in a pilot costume — then began swearing as other passengers told them to quiet down, witnesses told the news outlet.
"Another stewardess then approached them to warn them over their behavior and they cheered her loudly and wolf-whistled her," one passenger told WalesOnline. "They were making remarks to other female passengers too."
The group had already been "extremely noisy" in the terminal and were traveling to the resort town Sunny Beach in Bulgaria, which is known for its nightlife, the outlet reported.
Security was then called onto Thursday's flight from Cardiff to Bulgaria minutes before it was due to depart, but two of the group refused to leave, The Mirror also reported.
Other passengers then shouted for them to be removed, while one of them men threatened security by telling them he used to be in the military and knew how to operate a gun, per WalesOnline.
The flight was delayed further due to confusion over how many passengers were onboard. One person told WalesOnline everyone had to give their names to a TUI employee before they all had to deplane.
The Boeing 737 eventually departed 3 hours and 20 minutes after it was initially scheduled, data from Flightradar24 shows.
"We would like to apologize to customers on board flight TOM6412 from Cardiff to Bulgaria for the delay in taking off. We can confirm the flight was delayed due to disruptive passengers on board the flight," a TUI spokesperson told The Mirror.
"The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our highest priority, and we have a zero-tolerance policy to disruptive behaviour on our flights," they added. "The customers involved were offloaded and the flight was able to continue its journey."
