The 60-acre grounds are being marketed by estate agency Sherry FitzGerald.
The massive castle and its extensions boast nine bedrooms, six reception rooms, and a professional kitchen.

Steeped in history, the site was first thought to be occupied 10,000 years ago in the early Mesolithic period.

But since the castle's round tower was erected in the 12th century, and made habitable in the 15th century, it's had both famous visitors and infamous attacks.

Sir Walter Raleigh, an explorer who founded the original colony in Virginia, captured the castle in 1580 from Lord Roche.

It was also besieged by Oliver Cromwell in 1649 as part of England's wider invasion of the country that resulted in punishing laws against Irish Catholics.
