9 unique 'Stranger Things' costume ideas to help you stand out on Halloween
Amanda Krause
- "Stranger Things" costumes are likely to be everywhere on Halloween this year.
- Still, there are options for people who want to stand out among a crowd of Eddie Munsons.
Rather than focusing on the newest episodes of "Stranger Things" from season four, take inspiration from earlier seasons.
Content creator Claire René did just that when she and her husband dressed as Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers from season three.
They wore the character's signature reporter outfits, and carried accessories including a camera, notepad, and flashlight.
If you are going to dress as a popular character like Eddie Munson, consider giving your outfit a unique twist.
Cosplayer Justin R. Nelson did that recently when he dressed as a version of Eddie Munson — one where the character has an alternate ending.
He wore a graduation gown and cap on top of Eddie's signature Hellfire Club shirt, and created the diploma that the character would've received if he graduated.
And don't forget about the siblings of popular characters, like Lucas Sinclair's sister Erica.
Erica Sinclair's outfit is easy to re-create at home with things you might already have in your closet. Just look at Drielly Pires' cosplay of the character.
She wore a yellow T-shirt under blue overalls, red elbow pads, sneakers, and most importantly, the character's pink backpack and flashlight-adorned helmet.
"Stranger Things" wouldn't be the same without Will Byers, so consider dressing as his Dungeons & Dragons alter-ego.
Michael Burson, an artist and cosplayer, dressed as the character with only a few pieces.
To do the same, you'll need a purple cape embellished with silver stars, a matching pointed hat, and a wizard staff made from a stick.
Some "Stranger Things" episodes take place around Halloween, so you could dress as one of the characters in costume.
Max Mayfield has one of the most memorable Halloween costumes: Michael Myers. So instead of wearing her striped shirt and carrying a skateboard, you could wear her "Halloween"-inspired outfit.
Cosplayer KJ did so, donning Michael Myer's blue jumpsuit and white mask with Max's orange hair and signature skating sneakers.
There are also plenty of "Stranger Things" memes to take inspiration from.
One of the most popular memes that circulated following season four was a photo of Vecna actor Jamie Campbell Bower sipping coffee while in his costume.
While cosplaying the character recently, Jsin Dieron bought a similar coffee and re-created the meme. You can easily elevate your Vecna Halloween costume by adding the simple accessory.
Billy Hargrove stole the show in seasons two and three — but Heather Holloway was equally important.
To dress as her for Halloween, follow the lead of cosplayer Rebecca Bitondo.
She wore a classic red swimsuit and added sunglasses, a whistle, and a lifeguard bag. She also styled her hair in perm-style curls.
The monsters in "Stranger Things" aren't the only villains worth dressing as on Halloween.
You could also dress as Angela, Eleven's bully from season four.
Cosplayer Marisa did so, wearing a simple T-shirt and pink shorts. She also added a blonde wig with Angela's signature half-up half-down hairstyle, pastel eye makeup, and chunky earrings.
