We usually spend $40 a week at Aldi. I took the same list to Piggly Wiggly and didn't come close to sticking to my budget.

Photography/Shutterstock</p><ul class="summary-list"><li>I took my $40 <a target="_blank" href="https://www.businessinsider.com/aldi-grocery-shopping-affordable-week-of-food-2024-1">weekly shopping budget</a> that I usually spend at Aldi to Piggly Wiggly to compare.</li><li>Some products, like <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/best-brand-of-frozen-stir-fry-from-grocery-store-review">frozen veggies</a> and coffee, were similarly priced.</li></ul><p>My fiancée and I are very loyal to our local Aldi for our grocery needs.</p><p>It's one of the fastest-growing <a target="_blank" class href="https://www.businessinsider.com/walmart-grocery-sales-us-compared-kroger-albertsons-2024-3">grocery chains in the US</a>, and its affordable selection of goods usually keeps our weekly bill at or under $40.</p><p>As part of a series where I'm taking my standard grocery list to different local stores, I decided to see how far my budget would go at Piggly Wiggly, a regional grocery chain that's very popular where I live in Wisconsin. </p><p>Here's how the costs compared.</p>
