- Rachael Ray told Insider to use leftover stuffing from Thanksgiving to make waffles.
- The recipe has five ingredients, including cranberry sauce.
Leftover sandwiches are a Thanksgiving staple, but Rachael Ray has a tasty alternative that includes drizzled honey and waffles.
Ray shared her holiday hack during a conversation with Insider at Burger Bash, an event during last month's New York City Wine and Food Festival. The celebrity chef explained that leftover stuffing makes a "lovely" substitute for traditional waffle batter.
"Just put the turkey on top of the crispy stuffing with a little bit of fruity maple syrup," she said, adding that cranberry sauce and warm honey are other drizzle-worthy options.
Here's how to make Ray's leftover stuffing waffle
The recipe has a step-by-step video and is available on The Rachael Ray Show's website. Ray's official leftover stuffing waffle recipe includes cranberry sauce and maple syrup sauce.
To make, you'll need:
1 tablespoon butter, melted
3 to 4 cups leftover stuffing
1/2 cup leftover cranberry sauce
1 cup maple syrup
A few slices of leftover turkey
Instructions
Preheat a waffle maker to medium-high heat. Once hot, brush with melted butter.
Press a few cups of stuffing into the waffle iron, filling from corner to corner. Put as much stuffing into it as possible.
Close the waffle iron to press it into the mold. Cook for 7-8 minutes until the waffle is golden and crispy on top.
While your waffle is cooking, combine cranberry sauce and maple syrup in a small saucepot over medium heat. Stir to combine. Once hot, remove from heat.
Open the waffle maker and let it cool in the iron for 2 minutes, then remove.
The recipe said to serve leftover turkey on top of the stuffing waffles and drizzle everything in cranberry-maple sauce.
Ray shared additional Thanksgiving tips with Insider, including more leftover recipes
Along with waffles, Ray shared more alternatives people can make from their Thanksgiving leftovers, like turkey corn chili, matzo-ball-style soup, and turkey porcini ragù.
Her simple recipe for turkey corn chili takes 25 minutes to prepare, while the turkey porcini ragù recipe is a worthwhile comfort food that takes about 35 minutes.
Ray's matzo-ball-style soup, made out of leftover stuffing, vegetables, and cooked meats, only takes 30 minutes to prepare.
