Irish culture is known for its hearty cuisine, from stews to potato pancakes.
Colcannon, for example, is a twist on traditional mashed potatoes that's made with butter and cream.

From hearty stews to comforting potato dishes, these traditional Irish dishes are less likely to be found stateside.

Irish food is enjoyed all over the word, and in 2021 food-and-drink exports from Ireland increased by 4% to a record €13.5 billion, or $14.7 billion, the Irish Food Board reported. Though the value of Irish exports fell slightly between 2022 and 2023 due to inflation and the increased cost of living, it still remained above €16.3 billion, or $17.5 billion, in 2023, the report stated.

Ahead of St. Patrick's Day, Business Insider looked at recipes from all over the Emerald Isle to find the most unusual, yet tasty, dishes you need to try at least once in your lifetime.
