The Tower of London will be turned into an outdoor cinema this summer for the first time ever, according to Travel + Leisure.

The pop-up screening event will be held at the historic site from August 9-11, with screenings of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," "Gladiator," and Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet."

Tickets to the event - organised by UK-based open-air film company The Luna Cinema - are more expensive than a trip to a regular cinema, priced at £17.50 for adults and £13.50 for children aged between 3-15.

There's also a premium ticket option for £30 that includes reserved seating in a "director's chair," a free drink from the Luna VIP bar, and priority access to the bar and street food vendors at the event; filmwatchers can choose from pizza, "street-style" BBQ, and burgers.

"For years I've been dreaming about putting on a screening at the Tower of London - one of London's most iconic and dramatic landmarks," George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said in a press release from the company.

It's also the first time that "Star Wars" fans will be able to watch one of the films outside, as previous licensing has only allowed for the franchise to be viewed indoors, according to the press release.

Screenings will begin at 8.30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m., while cinemagoers are advised to bring blankets and picnic chairs for seating.
