Both the Sensex and the Nifty gathered pace in mid-afternoon trade on Wednesday as traders went long on select blue chips post the cut in borrowing costs by banks and funds indulged in some propping of Net Asset Values on the last day of September, which also marks the end of the 2nd quarter and the half year for fiscal 2015-2016.Here is a snapshot of the latest movements in the cash market on the exchanges.

BENCHMARK INDICES
Nifty rose 68 points to 7,911
Sensex jumped 239 to 26,017 points

BROADER INDICES
CNX 100 Index rose 0.9% to 8,025 points
CNX Mid Cap jumped 1.5% to 12,927 points

CNX SMall Cap added 1% to 5,226 points

SECTORAL INDICES
Bank Nifty dropped 0.7% to 17,159 points
CNX PSU Bank fell 1.6% to 3,108 points
CNX Metal surged 2.5% to 1,648 points
CNX Pharma added 1.4%to 12,882 points
CNX FMCG gained 1.5% to 19,760 points
