Dominique Mielle, who was a partner and senior portfolio manager at $20 billion hedge fund firm billion Canyon Partners, has left.
Mielle was the only female investment partner out of the eight-person senior investment team displayed on the Los Angeles-based hedge fund's website.
She was Canyon's longest tenured partner, responsible for more than $2 billion in assets, according to her LinkedIn page. She also oversaw "the establishment and growth" of the firm's $3 billion collateralized loan obligation business, according to her profile. Her plans are unclear.
The hedge fund industry has long lacked women in senior roles, particularly in investing jobs. Only 3% of senior investment roles in hedge funds were held by women in 2012, according to trade publication CIO.
Business Insider called Canyon for comment and will update the story if they have a statement.
Canyon was founded in 1990 by Josh Friedman and Mitchell Julis. Canyon manages more than $20 billion firmwide, according to its website. The bulk of those assets are in hedge funds, with $16.6 billion as of mid-year 2017, according to the Absolute Return Billion Dollar Club ranking.
