National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch sparked controversy again on Sunday night in a new NRA TV ad warning that "time is running out" for members of the media, Hollywood celebrities, athletes, and Democrats whom she accuses of "undermining voters' will and individual liberty."
"We've had enough of the lies, the sanctimony, the arrogance, the hatred, the pettiness, the fake news," Loesch said in the minute-long video, calling out "every lying member of the media," "every Hollywood phony," "the role model athletes who use their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents," and "politicians who would rather let America burn than lose one ounce of their personal power."
Loesch named specific members of the media - MSNBC hosts Joy Ann Reid, Mika Brzezinski, and Joe Scarborough - and "those who bring bias and propaganda to CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Times."
"Your time is running out," she said. "The clock starts now."
The video, purportedly a promotion for a new show Loesch will begin hosting on NRA TV this month, appeared to be a play on the "Time's Up" movement, a Hollywood-led protest against workplace sexual harassment and misconduct.
"The clock's been ticking on the abuse of power," actor Emma Watson wrote in an Instagram post announcing her support for the movement last fall.
Critics of the NRA and Loesch's tactics reacted with defiance on social media.
"Raise your hand if you're not scared of Dana and her hourglass," tweeted Parkland, Florida high school student and shooting survivor Emilie Smith.
Actor Michael Ian Black called the NRA "a terrorist organization" in a tweet.
"To every lying member of the media, to every Hollywood phony, to the role model athletes who use their free speech to alter and undermine what our flag represents…Your Time is running out. The clock starts now."
