Amkette introduced Indians to the first Evo TV couple of years ago. Now they are out with the next generation of Evo TV multimedia boxes in India called the Evo TV Android Central (AC) and Evo TV Media Centre (MC). Priced at Rs 5,500 (MC) and Rs 6,500 (AC), the two have 1 GHz Arm Cortex processor in them. These also have 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage.
As far as the connectivity is concerned, they have 4 USB ports to connect external hard drives, mice and keyboards. There is a multimedia card slot available as well with which the memory can be expanded by up to 32 GB. The interface has gone under the knife and what we get is a brilliant new and neat UI in a tile-like format. This is built on the Android 4.0.4 version; yes this version of Android is old but gets the job done.
The Evo TV’s are accompanied by an air remote, which controls the pointer on the TV screen, enabling the user to easily point and browse through the applications. Popular video streaming apps such as YouTube, Box TV and Star Sports are pre-loaded on them and users can connect to the Wi-Fi network and start browsing. Multi-screen experience also comes alive with the new Evo TV’s. We did catch a small demo of the multi-screen feature and were impressed.
Stay tuned as we bring you the full review of these machines soon.
