The Nationals Cut A Player Before Their Spring Game Was Over

Mar 5, 2013, 03:39 IST

Wikimedia CommonsGetting cut in Spring Training is part of the game, but Will Ohman learned just how cutthroat the business can be. According to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post (via Twitter), Ohman was released by the Nationals yesterday, only minutes after pitching in a game, and before the game was even over.

Ohman, a 10-year veteran, who has played for six different clubs, is a left-handed pitcher that was battling for one of the bullpen spots. And in yesterday's game, he pitched a scoreless sixth inning against the Cardinals. He did give up two hits and allowed two walks.

Maybe this happens more often than we hear about. But it still seems cruel to cut a guy when he is probably still icing his arm.
