The much awaited Polo GTI launched in India at Rs 25.99 lakh, only 99 units on sale

Volkswagen has finally launched the much awaited Polo GTI. The beast car is launched at Rs 25.99 lakh in India and bookings for the limited edition car have started. The German automaker will only be selling 99 cars in India as of now.

The three-door beast is powered by 1.8L 4-cylinder TSI engine matted with a 7-speed automatic DSG transmission churning out 192 PS of power. It generates 250 Nm torque at 1250-5300 rpm with a top speed of 233 kmph.

The new limited edition car will be equipped with with signature styling such as GTI Honeycombed Grill, LED Headlamps with red inserts, Dual chrome exhaust pipes, and GTI Signature Red Coloured Stripes & Stitching.

The hatchback car can be booked at the company’s website.

"The GTI is one of its kinds in the performance hatch segment and is designed for the petrol heads who are well versed with the GTI philosophy. It seamlessly blends power with the comfort that guarantees performance and an adrenaline packed driving experience. The one who drives a GTI need not explain anything. He simply drives a statement. Volkswagen GTI remains the icon for all sporty cars and we are extremely proud to bring this phenomenon to India,” said Michael Mayer - Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, speaking at the occasion.

He also said that the company made special efforts to make the car safer.

"At Volkswagen, safety is not an option, but an intrinsic part of the brand. The GTI comes well equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, Hill-hold and ESP and we believe the GTI, will once again set the bar for young Indian car enthusiasts,” he said.

With the introduction of GTI, Volkswagen aims to blast its presence in the performance cars category bringing in Volkswagen's more than 40 years old GTI legacy into India.
