The inspiring story of a visually challenged boy from Andhra Pradesh who is all set to kick-start his IIM journey

Back in 2015, we heard of a 19-year-old girl Paridhi Varma with only 10% eye vision making it to IIM Lucknow.

Such stories have always inspired the young MBA aspirants and encouraged them to pursue their dreams.

This year, there's yet another inspiring story. It is of another visually-challenged student who has made inroads to one of India's best B-School, IIM Kozhikode.

We are talking about Ambati Venkata Prem Swaroop, who scored 82.87 percentile points in the recently announced CAT-2016 results.

Considering it requires 60 percentile points for People With Disabilities to get through CAT, Swaroop has delivered a splendid performance in one of India's toughest exam. He is expecting calls from other IIMs as well.

Swaroop lost his eyesight when he was eight after high fever damaged his optic nerve. Born to parents who run a grocery store in Anantapur district, he wanted to improve the home-grown business. Unfazed by lost eyesight, he completed his studies like a regular student and enrolled in Career Launcher, eyeing to get into one of the IIMs. Using a reading software, he would listen to pdf versions of books and academic content.

He finally appeared in CAT this year, only to crack the exam and clinch a place in IIM.
