The House of Representatives passed a package on Friday that provides relief for Hurricane Harvey, suspends the debt ceiling, and funds the government for three months.

The legislation came out of a deal cut between President Donald Trump and Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday.

The package passed by a vote of 316 to 90. All of the opposition came from Republicans, mostly from the more conservative wing of the party.

The bill suspends of the debt ceiling for three months. Republican leaders wanted a longer suspension of the debt ceiling to avoid throwing the must-pass legislation into a wild December that will now include another shutdown threat, a looming deadline on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and, possibly, legislation on tax reform.

At the same time, many conservatives in the House wanted the debt ceiling suspension to be paired with spending cuts to offset some of the increased debt load. This was not in the bill and caused uproar from Republican members.

In terms of Hurricane Harvey relief, the bill will send around $7.4 billion to FEMA for their disaster relief, $7.4 billion for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and $450 million for the Small Business Administration.

The bill was passed in the Senate on Thursday and will now go to Trump and will likely be signed into law shortly.
