The Government is going the private sector way as Modi calls for self appraisals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going the private sector way as he has asked all his ministers to present ‘self appraisals’ during a meeting on June 30.
This will also decide who will get what ministry, as a Cabinet re-jig is also on the cards.
A top government source told TOI the ministers have been asked to make a presentation to Modi about their performance since the BJP government presented its second budget.
The ‘self appraisal’ is also crucial as two states-Punjab and Uttar Pradesh-will go for polls next year.
"There was talk that the June 30 meeting may be an appraisal exercise that can lead to a cabinet reshuffle," a source told TOI.
Modi has been reviewing performances of his ministers at regular intervals and has even set a deadline for infrastructure-related projects.
An official said a "bitter but healthy" competition is going on among the ministries and departments to get the best rating on the MyGov portal.
