Silicon Valley

When Google announced its enormous corporate restructuring in June, it slipped in a subtle reference to the satirical comedy "Silicon Valley" by linking to the website of a fictional company in the show called Hooli.

The creators of the show were completely blown away. The team had no idea it was coming, and couldn't believe one of the most powerful companies in the world would pop a reference to their show in such a major announcement.

"It immediately made me want to run out and short Google," joked executive producer Alec Berg on stage at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit. "It was like, 'Who's running this thing?!"

"It was amazing and awe-inspiring and... puzzling," Berg continued.

Alec Berg and co-creator Mike Judge shared some other fun details on the panel as well, like that they've had real Silicon Valley bigwigs try to pitch themselves onto the show. They've also tried to corral other people into making an appearance.

"We've reached out ot Mark Zuckerberg and he declined," Judge says.

"You mean, he hasn't said yes yet," Berg corrected.
