The 3 plays in sports everybody will be talking about today
Good morning! Here are the plays everybody will be talking about Wednesday.
Mookie Betts does something no Red Sox player has ever done. Betts is already great at a lot of things, and now he is starting to add the one missing ingredient, power. After never hitting more than 15 home runs in any one season in the minors or majors, Betts hit 18 a year ago. This year he has taken it to even another level as he is now on pace to hit 25-30 this year after hitting 3 home runs on Tuesday. Betts became the first Red Sox player to ever hit 3 home runs in a game from the leadoff spot. The Red Sox beat the Orioles 6-2.
Fly, Kevin Pillar, fly! Pillar made yet another ridiculous catch for the Blue Jays, going horizontal to rob Austin Romine of the Yankees of extra bases. The Blue Jays won 4-1 (the full video is below).
If this catching thing doesn't work, Christian Bethancourt should try pitching. Trailing 16-4 in the eighth inning, the Padres brought in catcher Christian Bethancourt to pitch and it was the best thing they did all day. Bethancourt dazzled with a 96 mph fastball and then mixed it up with a 53 mph knuckleball (the full video is below).
