The 3 Deadly sins of
Networking
Smallbusiness1 min read
"Your network is your net worth." It's an oft-articulated piece of business advice that remains constant in essentially every career path and industry. The number of exceptionally qualified candidates who have missed out on a job have learned, it's more important who you know instead of what you know that gets you where you need to go.

Here are the 3 deadly sins of networking - avoid them!

Greed

If your own worries are your lone concerns, why would it be advisable for others to think about you? When you look to address others' issues and make an extraordinary showing with regards to, they're more disposed to respond. Centre your messages and offerings around the interests and needs of your audience, not what you're hoping to promote.

Lust

In case you're excessively eager or lusting after the consideration of others, your professional endeavours can lead to an extremely unprofessional reputation. Nobody invites crossing the line of acceptable and professional efforts with that of becoming a pest revealing personal cravings over that of the other's needs. You can't force somebody to give back.

Untruthfulness

“Neither shall you desire…anything that belongs to your neighbour”. That is something to be thankful for, and something we’ve harped on quite a bit as well. Try not to concentrate on what others have or the connections others have made. Set your own particular relationship goals in light of what you bring to the table --your network, not what you try to gain from them.
