The 25 best beaches in the UK, ranked by TripAdvisor users

With its frigid temperatures and tendency to rain, the UK hardly has a reputation as a top beach destination. But TripAdvisor's Travellers Choice Awards 2016 - its latest ranking of the country's top 25 beaches - has found some that are worth a visit.

Based on reviews from its millions of users, TripAdvisor's ranking includes beaches along the South Coast and North Coast of England as well as Wales and Scotland. Stretches of sand on often forgotten isles like Jersey also made the cut.

From sandy dunes and lagoons to dramatic cliffs and picture-perfect harbours, the UK has plenty of stunning beaches that can be enjoyed in any weather. Some of the most beautiful beaches even look good when there's a storm going on.
