The 20 best big US cities for families

Deciding where to live with your family can be tough, and you'll want to consider factors like rent and safety.

Apartment List, an online rental marketplace, recently put together a ranking of the best large US cities for families.

The results are based off a number of factors, including FBI data on violent and property crimes, the percentage of median income required to rent a two-bedroom apartment, high school graduation rates, and the percentage of people under 18 (called a child friendliness score).

Each city's suburbs were also taken into account when conducting the study.
