Turns out that trait can help you succeed in some pretty lucrative jobs.
We combed through the Occupational Information Network (O*NET), a US Department of Labor database that compiles detailed information on hundreds of jobs, and looked at salary data on the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website, to find high-paying positions where "being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks" are highly important skills.
Using a zero to 100 scale, O*NET rates each occupation on the importance of being detail-oriented.
Here are 18 positions where being detail-oriented has an importance level of 98 or higher, and which have a mean annual salary of $65,000 or more. All job descriptions are from O*NET.
