Travel enthusiasts everywhere are basking in the results of Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards for 2016. From hotels to islands to world cities, the annual survey takes thousands of travelers' opinions into account to deliver the definitive list of destinations to visit now.

In the US, major coastal cities like New York and San Francisco predictably made the list, but Southern charm reigns supreme. Seven of the 15 cities on this list are south of the Mason-Dixie Line, including the winner, Charleston, South Carolina, which also won the title of world's best city.
