1. At least 24 people are dead and hundreds more injured after two passenger trains in India derailed within minutes of each other while travelling in opposite directions over a partially flooded bridge.

2. A washed-up plane part found on the French Indian Ocean island of La Reunion last week and believed to belong to missing flight MH370, will be examined by experts for the first time on Wednesday.

8. Britain is extending its Iraqi air campaign against ISIS militants until March 17, one year longer that initially planned.

9. Theo Bronkhorst, the professional Zimbabwean hunter who led the expedition that killed Cecil the lion, is due to stand trial Wednesday on charges of organising an illegal hunt.

10. The CEO of World Rowing has demanded that the venue for next year's Rio Olympics be tested for viruses after a report that the waters are polluted with human waste and sewage.

Eighteen-year-old American swimmer Katie Ledecky broke the world record for the 1500-meter freestyle for the second time in two days, finishing at the FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia, with a time of 15 minutes and 25.48 seconds.
