1. Malaysia says that airplane debris that washed up on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion has been identified as being from a Boeing 777, the same model as Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 which vanished early last year.

2. Greece could ask for €24 billion (£16.8 billion, $26.3 billion) in a first tranche of bailout aid from international lenders this month, according to local newspaper reports.

3. Tributes have been paid to singer and TV star Cilla Black, who died at the age of 72 at her home in Spain on Sunday, and a post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

4. HSBC reported a 10% increase in earnings for the first half of the year on Monday, boosted by bumper profits in Hong Kong as the lender considers whether to move its headquarters from London to the Asian hub.

6. Italian police stopped Snoop Dogg on Friday as he prepared to board a private plane bound for Britain with $422,000 (£270,000) in cash in his Louis Vuitton luggage, according to an Italian lawyer representing the entertainer.

7. Volkswagen overtook Toyota as the world's largest carmaker by sales in the first half of the year, achieving its long-held ambition three years ahead of target.

8. Greece will take another step away from full-on crisis mode on Monday by opening its stock market for the first time in five weeks, although immediate heavy losses are expected.

9. A leak of data from the IAAF, the athletics world governing body, to The Times of London shows that one-third of medals in endurance races at the Olympic Games or world championships over a ten-year period were won by athletes with suspicious blood readings or by athletes who were likely to have use.

10. The White House will launch the first ever rule on Monday to cut carbon emissions from power plants, a plan that opponents in the coal industry and their political allies will fight in the courts.
