Teenager Says She Was Kicked Out Of A Clothing Store For Being Too Fat
KEZIA teenager says she was asked to leave a Rue 21 store for being too big.
Shelby Buster of Eugene, Oregon, was shopping at the teen store for her birthday, according to local station KEZI.
"I walked in and the lady at the front counter said hey you're too big to be in this store, I need you to leave," Buster told KEZI.
Buster's mother confronted the employee, who then apologized, according to the news report.
The teen says the alleged incident hurt her self esteem.
"Seriously that's disrespectful and rude. Just because I'm bigger than you guys are, I'm not a 14 or smaller. It makes no sense why they would do that," she said.
Rue 21 told KEZI that "the company does not tolerate discrimination."
Rue 21 is a teen store with nearly 1,000 locations around the U.S.
